Bran Castle in Brasov, Romania

Haha... this is crazy. My girl is in Brasov now and she'll most probably be visiting the Dracula Castle there today. So, I thought that I might as well pay a visit to the castle as well - but of course through other means la... =D

So what did I find out? Well, for one, the building of Bran Castle started somewhere around the year 1378. It is said that the castle once belonged to Count Dracula (Vlad Tepes), but nobody has evidence to support it. Vlad Tepes lived in the castle only for a short time and he was there as a guest. So why Dracula? It is believed that he used to sign his name with his father's name, Dracul "The Devil". Dracula is derived from a Romanian word for devil or dragon.

Vlad Tepes used the Bran Castle as his headquarters for his incursions into Transylvania. This castle should not be mistaken for the actual Castle Dracula (now in ruins), which is located on the Arges River. It is called the Poenari Castle. Damn... this is interesting huh?

This is the Bran Castle where Count Dra-dra-dracula..la..la..la.. once lived...

Top view of Bran Castle... I wonder how it must be like being inside this castle - at night! Oooo... scary...
